Indian Summer hit Britain with the hottest October ever. As temperatures were topping 29 degrees centigrade, Londoners took to the river Thames, fountains and parks to cool off. Brompton Cemetery became a popular choice with locals to relax in the sun.

I enjoyed a stroll with camera at my local park in West London – Brompton Cemetery, oasis of peace and quiet, tranquillity and meditation with shady walks and over 35,000 monuments – many of historical importance.
Glorious sunshine and record-breaking temperature turned the cemetery into a kind of surreal beach. Londoners, wearing next to nothing, were enjoying the sun amongst the tombs and crosses. Some were reading newspapers, musician was playing guitar sitting on a bench opposite the 19th century catacombs.

One of the cemetery regulars was meditating cross-legged in a Lotus position. The Yoga man was sitting straight and still on a tomb stone, with his eyes shut. Miles away in an astral journey, he was travelling through space as I focused my camera on him. I used the opportunity to take photographs of him meditating. He didn’t mind.
